Rhizomatous; culms erect or ascending, rather slender, firm, 10-25 cm. long; leaf-blades ascending or nearly erect, flat or involute, 3-7 cm. long, 2-3 mm. wide, long-hairy at the mouth; racemes slighdy exserted, linear-lanceolateļ¼3-5 cm. long, 4-7 mm. wide, densely flowered; spikelets lanceolate, appressed, 5-7 mm. long, 1.2-15 mm. wide; second glume coriaceous, lustrous; lemma 3-4 mm. long, lanceolate; anthers linear, L5-2 mm. long. Sand dunes near seashores; Honshu (Kanto Distr. and westw.), Shikoku, Kyushu; rather common. Korea and Manchuria.
