Korea Flora: Deciduous tree. Height 15m. Diameter 1m. Winter buds and branchlets initially pubescent, becoming glabrous. Two-year-old branches grayish-brown. Winter buds ovoid, small, with 5-6 scales; flower buds round (3mm in diameter) with 6-8 scales; leaf scars small, reniform. Leaves alternate, elliptical to oblong-elliptical, apex acuminate or caudate-acuminate, length 7cm (typically 3-5cm), base cuneate or rounded, margin with simple or double serration, both surfaces glabrous. Petiole 2-8mm long, initially pubescent becoming glabrous. Flowers perfect. Fruit and seeds samara, glabrous, 12-13mm long, width greater than length. Seeds located in central portion, germinating immediately after falling.
