Japan Flora: Slightly glaucesccnt glabrous perennial herb; stems few or solitary, erect, 10-25 cm. long, sometimes branched, obtusely angled to terete; leaves rather thick, linear, 2-4 cm. long, 1-3 mm. wide, acute, entire; flowers small, green, solitary on short pedicels, the bract solitary, rather small, similar to the leaves, the bractcoles 2, linear, 2-6 mm. long, the perianth 2.5-3 mm. long, tubular; fruit ellipsoidal-globose, 2-2.3 mm. long, green, with raised reticulations, crowned with the persistent perianth-lobes. Apr._Junc. Meadows in low-lands and mountains.

Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu; common. Korea, China, and Ryukyus.
