Japan Flora: Small somewhat tufted herb with short erect rhizomes; sterile blade wholly suppressed; fertile spike broadly linear, 3-10 mm. long, cuspidate; peduncle slightly thickened at apex, green. July-Aug.

Kyushu (Sakurajima); rare.
