Japan Flora: Rhizomes creeping, 2-3 mm. across, densely scaly, the scales dark brown, ovate-deltoid, 1.5-2 mm. long, abruptly contracted at the tip to a linear tail; fronds deciduous, 10-25 cm. long; stipes 1-4 cm. long; blades firmly chartaceous to thinly coriaceous, lanceolate, 15-30 mm. wide, acuminate, sometimes obtuse at the tip, abruptly narrowed at base; costa slender, the veins not visible; sori on upper half of blade, medial.  

Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu.
