Japan Flora: Tree with thickish, glabrous, pale yellow or pale reddish brown branchlets; leaves rigid, slightly recurved, 15-20 mm. long, about 1.8 mm. wide, short spine-tipped, 4-angled and slightly narrower than thick, the pulvini elongate, about 1.5 mm. long; cones oblong, 8-10 cm. long, the scales elliptic, irregularly denticulate. Moun­tains.

Honshu (centr. distr. and Yamato), Shikoku, Kyushu.
