Japan Flora: Per­ennial slightly pubescent herb; stems erect, branched, 50-90 cm. long; stipules linear, dilated at base, nearly entire; leaflets elliptic to narrowly obovate, 2-3 cm. long, 6-10 mm. wide, cuneate at base, denticulate; racemes short and dense, axillary, peduncled, the bracts subulate; flowers violet; calyx 5-6 nun. long, the lobes linear, slightly longer than the tube; legumes 2 or 3-times coiled, 4-5 mm. across, slightly pilose, several- seeded. 

Mediterranean origin, naturalized in our area.
