Japan Flora: Closely allied to H. oldhamii; leaflets glabrescent, with scarcely raised veinlets beneath; flowers slighdy larger; legumes larger and the joints 13-16 mm. long. Aug.-Oct.

Kyushu (Yakushima and Tanegashima); rare. Ryukyus, Formosa, China to India.
