Japan Flora: Green to somewhat glaucous, somewhat fleshy annual branched above, with scattered spreading hairs on stems, leaf-rachises, and peduncles, the hairs callose at base; stems erect, terete, green; leaves 5-10 cm. long, short-petioled, the stipules ovate to lanceolate, membranous, acuminate, attached slightly above the base, 7-12 mm. long, the leaflets 40-60, linear-oblong, 10- 15 mm. long, 2-3.5 mm. wide, rounded at apex,glaucous be­neath; racemes 2- or 3-flowered, loose, the bracts similar to the stipules but smaller, the bracteoles at the base of the calyx narrowly oblong, green; flowers about 1 cm. long, pale yellow; calyx membranous, about 5 mm. long, 2-lobed nearly to the base; legumes usually glabrous, linear, flattened, 3-5 cm. long, 5 mm. wide, the stipe 7-8 mm. long, the joints 6-8, obsoletely rugulose in the center on both sides. July-Oct. Wet places near rivers and ponds in lowlands. 

Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu; common. Tropics of Asia, Africa, and Australia
