Korea Flora: Shrub, 3m tall. Winter buds and branchlets reddish-brown. Branches erect, glabrous. Leaves: stipules linear, 8-15mm long, glabrous, apex acute or obtuse. Leaflets 13-21, narrowly lanceolate, 4-7 × 1.5-2cm, glabrous or with hairs along the midrib on the underside, veins 15-23 pairs. Petioles 10-12cm long. Inflorescences densely paniculate, 7-11 × 5-20cm. Pedicels and floral axes glabrous. Bracts lanceolate, 2.5mm long, glabrous, apex acute. Flowers 5-7mm across, pedicels 3-4mm long; calyx tube cup-shaped with a low rim, glabrous on both surfaces. Calyx persistent, reflexed in fruit, ovate, glabrous, apex obtuse. Petals white, spatulate, 4-5mm long; stamens 20, slightly shorter than petals. Fruits follicles narrowly cylindrical, 3mm long.

Flowering: June-July.
Fruiting: September-October.
Distribution: Northern China and Xinjiang region; northern Gyeonggi and mountainous areas near Seoul (e.g., Achasan Valley).
Taxonomic Remarks: This species is native to Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Shaanxi, and Shanxi in China. Rahn (1989) reports that this species is distributed in the northern part of Gyeonggi-do of Korea. Specimens deposited at SNUA from Yangpyeong - gun, Achasan valley near Seoul, and Suwon campus were confimed.
