Japan Flora: Glaucous, glabrous perennial; stems terete, erect, more or less branched, 15-40 cm. long, from an ascending base; leaves op­posite or verticillate in 3’s or 4*s, alternate in the upper ones, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, 1.5-3 cm. long, 5-15 mm. wide, obtuse to subacute, sessile, obscurely 3-nerved; racemes short, the pedicels short; flowers pale yellow, 15-18 mm. long, the spur 5-10 mm. long; capsules 6-8 mm. long; seeds winged, about 3 mm. long. Aug.-Oct. Sandy places along sea­shores.

Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku; common. Kuriles, Sakhalin, Korea, Ussuri, and Manchuria.
