Japan Flora: Closely allied to tlie preceding; leaves elliptic or obovate-elliptic, 2-3 cm. long, 1-1.5 cm. wide, acute, acuminate to long-acuminate at base, minutely serrate, gla-brous on upper side, except short white-hairy on the midrib when young, pale brown appressed-pubescent beneath, the petioles 1-2 mm. long, glabrescent; racemes glabrous, pendu-lous, 5- to 10-flowered; calyx-lobes very acute; capsules globose- ellipsoidal, 3.5 mm. long; styles 2.5-3 mm. long. July. Moutains;

Honshu (Mikawa and Mino Prov., westw. to s. Kinki).
