Japan Flora: Much-branched deciduous shrub with glabrous branchlets; leaves obovate or elliptic-ovate, 2-4 cm. long, 1-1.5 cm, wide, ab-ruptly acute, cuneate at base, serrulate, glabrous, the midrib puberulous on upper side, white-puberulent beneath, the petioles 5-8 mm. long; calyx-lobes linear-lanceolate, acuminate, about 2 mm. long, glabrous; corolla pale green, ovoid-urceolate, about 8 mm. long, the pedicels 1-2 cm. long, glabrous, recurved in flower, erect in fruit; capsules narrowly oblong, erect, about 8 mm. long. Apr.

Honshu (Izu, Tokaidd Distr.), Shikoku, Kyushu. Frequently cultivated.
