Korea Flora: Evergreen shrub. Winter Buds and Stems: Terminal buds ovate with pointed apex. Flower buds form in summer and bloom in early winter. Branches thick, glabrous. Leaf scars V-shaped with 13-15 vascular bundle scars. Leaves: Alternate, palmately divided into 7-9 segments, 20-40cm in diameter at base, somewhat cordate; segments ovate or ovate-lanceolate, apex acuminate. Both surfaces glabrous; upper surface dark green and glossy, lower surface yellowish-green, margins serrate. Young leaves and inflorescences initially with brown hairs that soon disappear. Petiole terete, 30cm long, glabrous. Flowers: Umbels clustered at branch tips forming panicles (20-40cm × 5-8cm). Flowers 5mm in diameter, white including peduncle, pentamerous, with prominent receptacle. When fruiting 3mm in diameter with distinct sepals. Styles 5, 1.5mm long. Fruit and Seeds: Subglobose, 5mm in diameter, black.
