Korea Flora: Deciduous shrub. Much branched. Stems: Branches with triangular thorns broad at base. Leaves: Alternate, palmately compound; 5 leaflets, spathulate or oblanceolate, apex acuminate, base cuneate, leaflets very small at 3-4(5)cm × 1.0-1.5cm. Margins with sharp fine serrations; upper surface green and glossy; lower surface light green with dense hairs at vein junctions. Petiole 5-7(8)cm long, glabrous. Petiolules almost absent. Flowers: Umbels solitary at branch tips. Main peduncle (2)3-4(5)cm long, glabrous; pedicels (6)7-8mm long. Calyx with 5 indistinct teeth; petals 5, 3mm long, reflexed, green. Fruit and Seeds: Berries flattened, 7mm long, black, with persistent styles.

Flowering Period: Late July
Fruiting Period: October
Distribution: Southern China (inland Yunnan to Fujian); Southern Jeju Island (Korea)
