Korea Flora: Perennial herb growing in somewhat moist grasslands in lowlands, 30-60 cm tall, short reversed spines on ridges, leaf margins and abaxial leaf veins. Leaves in whorls of 6, 2 are true leaves and 4 are stipules, lanceolate, 2-3 cm long, 3-7 mm wide, apex rounded, slightly notched or obtuse, vein tips acute, margins entire, narrowed below and directly attached to stem. Flowers June-July, white, cymes in upper leaf axils and stem tip, with pedicel. Corolla 4-lobed. Stamens 4. Fruits 2 together fused, glabrous.
