Japan Flora: Small perennial; stems 1-leaved, 5-15 cm. long, solitary or few together; leaves reniform-orbicular, 7-15 mm. long and as wide, the radical ones long-petiolate, the cauline sessile and clasping; flowers white, 8-10 mm. across; petals 4-6 mm. long, ovate or oblong, entire, with dis­tinct ascending claws at base; anthers orbicular, about 0.5 mm. long, the staminodes shortly 3- to 8-cleft; capsules broadly ovoid, 5-6 mm. long.     Aug. Wet places in alpine regions. 

Honshu (centr. and n. distr.); rare.
