Korea Flora: Semi-evergreen climbing shrub, stems twining dextrorsely. Winter buds narrowly ovoid with dark reddish-brown scales. Branchlets reddish-brown, pubescent, hollow.Leaves broadly lanceolate or ovate-elliptic, 3-8 × 1-2(3)cm; apex acute or obtuse-acute, base rounded; margins entire; glabrous or with some pubescence remaining abaxially; petioles 5mm long, pubescent.Flowers 1-2 in leaf axils; bracts elliptic or ovate, 1-2cm long, opposite; bracteoles 1mm long. Calyx glabrous with pubescent lobes. Corolla 30-40mm long, changing from white to yellow, pubescent outside, villous inside tube; 5-lobed with one lobe deeply divided and reflexed. Stamens 5; pistil 1.Fruit globose, 7-8mm in diameter, black.
Sporophyte number: 2n = 18 Flowering June-July; Fruiting September-October. Distribution: Northern, central, and southern China, Taiwan, Japan (south of southern Hokkaido); throughout Korean Peninsula except Hamgyeongnam-do, Hamgyeongbuk-do.
