Russia Flora: Shrub up to 2 m tall. Young shoots brownish-green, shortly woolly-hairy. Leaf blades usually oblong-lanceolate, acute at apex, cuneate at base, serrate-dentate along margin, 2-6 (9) cm long and 0.5-1.7 (very rarely up to 2.2) cm wide, glabrous above or with sparse curly hairs along midvein, more or less hairy along veins below, almost losing pubescence by autumn. Flowers 1-2 in axillary and upper sessile half-umbels. Bracteoles usually linear, 8-25 mm long, paired. Calyx with narrow tube and limb divided into linear lobes. Corolla 2.5-3.5 cm long, tubular-funnelform, bright pinkish-purple outside, dull pink with yellowish tinge inside. Capsule ovoid-ellipsoid, 10-15 mm long. Seeds with developed wings drawn out at ends. (Table XXVIII).

Distribution: Bureya, Ussuri (north). (Fig. 98). - In mountain spruce forests and in dwarf pine zone, along rivers and streams. Flowering June-July. Highly ornamental shrub. Absent in cultivation. Apparently deserves inclusion in rare plant lists of Soviet Far East and USSR. Special study of species in nature and testing in cultivation necessary.

Endemic. - Described from Khabarovsk: "Province Primorskaya, district Khabarovsk, on Mount Yanykan near Lake Bolon-Odzhaltarget in rocky areas of forest zone (Picea ajanensis), June 16, 1910, I. W. Kuznetsov" (type - LE).
