Japan Red List (2000)
It is an epiphytic orchid that grows on the trunks of evergreen broad-leaved trees. The stem is thin and the leaves are arranged alternately. There are two types of leaves, one elliptical in shape and 9-10mm in length, and the other linear-elliptical in shape and 16-20mm in length. The inflorescence bears 2-4 pale green flowers in a raceme. The lip is white and strap-shaped with a saccate base and a reniform, concave apex.
It has been collected a few times in Yakushima. It is extremely rare, and recent surveys have not been able to confirm its presence. It is believed that the species experienced a significant decline during the period of deforestation of the primary forests on the island.
