Russia Flora: Plant: Shrub, up to 4-6 m tall, usually with distinct main stem covered with relatively thick bark layer. Young shoots pilose, pubescence greatly reduced by autumn. Leaves: Leaves of fertile shoots 8-16(20) cm long, with 5(7) leaflets. Petiole usually about 2 cm long. Leaflets (3)5-9 cm long, terminal leaflets broadly elliptic or obovate, apex abruptly narrowed into short acuminate tip, base cordate to rounded and very rarely cuneate, margin rather coarsely serrate-dentate with 34-39 teeth on each side, both surfaces ± pilose (denser along veins). Inflorescence: Broadly ovoid to hemispherical, 4-7 cm long and 4-10 cm wide, pilose. Flowers: Corolla 5-7 mm in diameter, white. Fruit: Drupes 4-5 mm in diameter, bright red. (Table XXIX).
Distribution: Kamchatka (Fig. 96). Most common in Central Kamchatka depression, occurring sporadically in light stone birch forests and tall herb thickets. Flowering in June-July. Ornamental. Endemic. Described from cultivated specimens grown from seeds of Kamchatkan origin.
