Japan Flora: Japanese name: Kibana-utsugi.

Deciduous shrub with gray-brown branches, with 2 longitudinal lines of spreading hairs; leaves ovate-oblong, narrowly obovate, or ovate, 4-8 (-10) cm. long, 2-3 cm. wide, abruptly acuminate, toothed, loosely appressed-hairy on both sides, sessile; flowers sessile; ovary glabrous; calyx-lobes 1-1.5 cm. long, loosely pilose, the limb deciduous in fruit; corolla pale yellow,
3.5-4 cm. long; capsules 2-3 cm. long.

May-June.

Mountains; Honshu (centr. and n. distr.).
