Japan Flora: Stems simple, 50-70 cm. long, declined above, glabrous; lower leaves narrowly ovate, the upper broadly lanceolate to narrowly ovate-oblong, 7-18 cm. long, 2.5-4 cm. wide, perfoliate, gradually narrowed above and long-acumi­nate, glabrous; flowers solitary in the axil of median leaves, yellow, the pedicels shorter than the flowers, the tepals 2.5-3 cm. long, narrowly oblong, ascending, slightly purple-spotted inside, acute.  Oct.
