Japan Flora: Stems 40-80 cm. long, 4-angled, usually simple, often loosely pubescent; leaves thinly membranous, ovate-oblong or ovate, 7-15 cm. long, 3-8 cm. wide, subacute, rounded or cuneate at base, doubly toothed or incised, the petioles narrowly winged; cymes axillary, 1- to 3-flowered, loose, long-pedunculate, loosely glandular-pilose; flowers 9-11 mm. long, the pedicels slender, 2-3(-4) cm. long; calyx-lobcs ovate, obtuse; capsules ovoid-globose, 7-10 mm. long. (Apr.-) May.
