Japan Flora: Scarcely armed small erect shrub, the fertile branch- lets rather elongate, nearly glabrous; leaves membranous, orbicular, cordate, 6-10 cm. long and as wide, palmately 5- to 7-parted with acuminate, often 3-fid, incised and toothed segments, slightly pilose to glabrous on both sides; flowers few, loose, on slender glabrous pedicels 2-4 cm. long; calyx glabrous outside, the tube cup-shaped, the segments ovate, caudate, densely white-puberulent inside and on margin; petals broadly ovate, 4-6 mm. long; fruit globose, the fruitlets glabrous; stones pitted. July-Aug. Mountains.
