Japan Flora: Erect stiff perennial; stems 20-80 cm. long, short white appressed-pilose; stipules subulate; leafle效 oblong or narrowly so, 15-30 mm. long, 5-10 mm. wide, nearly glabrous above, sparsely pilose beneath; chasmogamic flowers about 8 mm. long, in dense racemes as long as to shorter than the leaves, the peduncles rather stout, axillary, the bracts minute,the bracteoles narrowly lanceolate to subulate, 2-3 mm. long; calyx 5-6 mm. long, with narrowly lanceolate, 3-ribbed, spine-tipped lobes; cleistogamic flowers few, fasciculate in axils; calyx 4-5 mm. long; legumes broadly ovate, appressed-pilose, 3-3.5 mm. long.
