Japan Flora: Stems 50-80 cm. long, with recurved short hairs, especially on the angles; leaves broadly lanceolate or narrowly ovate, 5-10 cm. long, 15-2.5 cm. wide, long-acuminate, cuneate at base, acutely toothed, thinly pilose above, loosely puberulent beneath or nearly glabrous on both surfaces, petiolate; racemes 5-15 cm. long, rather narrow; bracts broadly lanceolate to ovate; calyx 3.5-5 mm. long in fruit, loosely puberulent, the teeth narrowly deltoid, mucronate; corolla about 10 mm. long, rather thick, the tube nearly as long as the lower lip, gibbous, 2 or 3 times as long as the calyx; nutlets broadly elliptic, about 1.2 mm. long, rather smooth, slightly flattened; Sept.-Oct. Woods and thickets in mountains.

Aug .-Oct. Mountains.
