Japan Flora: Leaves pinnately divided, the sinus reach­ing to the midrib, the segments acute to acuminate, acutely toothed on upper margin, the petioles slender; scapes 20-45 cm. long; involucral bracts not corniculate, the outer oblong, short-acuminate, appressed, scarious on margin, the innermost lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, acute; achenes prominently 5- or 6-ribbed, with rather large spinelike tubercles. Alpine regions.

Hokkaido (Ishikari and Hidaka Prov.).
