Japan Flora: Rhizomes vertical or oblique; stems scapiform, 20-45 cm. long, rather slender, loosely woolly pubescent while young, becoming glabrous; leaves all radical, spathulate, 8-15 cm. long, 1.2-3 cm. wide, rounded at apex, remotely repand-denticulate, mucronate­toothed, glabrous or loosely short hairy on upper side; scalelike leaves of stems absent or single; bracts linear-lanceolate; heads 3 to 8, the pedicels 1.5-6 cm. long, erect, yellow; involucres 1-1.2 cm. long, narrow; achenes brown, 4.5-5 mm. long, about 0.6 mm. across, 20-ribbed, smooth; pappus snow-white, about 5 mm. long.  Alpine regions.

Hokkaido.
