Korea Flora: Small trees, to 10 m tall, Winter buds sharp-pointed with many glabrous scales, branchlets glabrous; Leaves opposite, deciduous; 3-foliolate leaflet blades oblong-lanceolate, 5-10 × 1.5-2.5 cm; leaf blade abaxially glabrous, with deciduous hairs on midvein, petiolule to 5 mm, leaflets margin obtusely serrate with 10-12 teeth; adaxially green and abaxially gray. petiole glabrous and reddish and 7-8 cm long; Flowers dioecious, inflorescence corymbose, 3-4(5)-flowered, pedicel 15-17 mm. flowers yellow, petals 5mm, stamens 7-8mm, longer than petals, Stamens 10; Fruit and nutlets glabrous, 30-35 mm, wings spreading obtusely, or nearly erectly.

China Flora: Deciduous tree, up to 20 (-30) meters tall; bark is gray and rough. Young branches are purple-brown and glabrous, while old branches are gray. 3-leaflet compound leaves, leaflets are papery, oblong-lanceolate, 5-10 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, with acuminate tips, terminal leaflets with cuneate bases, lateral leaflets with slightly oblique bases, with blunt serrations, white powdered below, and pubescent along the midrib; petioles are 4-7 cm long and glabrous. Corymbs have 3-5 flowers. Flowers are yellow-green, polygamous, male and bisexual flowers are on different plants; sepals are oblong-ovate, 7 mm long; petals are oblong-obovate, with 8 stamens, male flower stamens are 1 cm long; bisexual flower stamens are short, ovary is glabrous, purple. Winged fruit is purple-brown, 3-3.5 cm long, with two wings at an acute or nearly right angle. Flowering period is June, and fruiting period is September.
It is produced in Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, and grows in forests at an altitude of 500-1000 meters.
Russia Flora: Tree up to 20 m tall. Terminal buds up to 10 mm long and 2.5 mm thick, weakly 4-angled, dull brown, glabrous, with 6-8 (10) pairs of outer scales, with 2 or 4 lateral accessory buds. Shoots thin, dull brown, glabrous. Leaves ternately compound, leaflets 4-8 (12) mm long, up to 2.5-3 mm wide, of equal size, or middle leaflet slightly longer than lateral ones, lanceolate or oblong-elliptical, entire in lower part, above with appressed dentate-serrate margins, glabrous or with hairs in vein angles (long thin-hairy along veins when young), lateral leaflets almost sessile or on petiolules up to 3 mm long, with rounded bases, central leaflet on 3-12 mm long petiolule, with cuneate base. Petioles 5-15 cm long, equal to or exceeding leaf blade length, reddish, glabrous. Inflorescence a 3-5-flowered corymb with long pedicels. Flowers large, yellow-green; petals about 7 mm long, oval; sepals 7-8 mm long, ovate; stamens about 10. Samaras 3-3.5 cm long, diverging at right angle (rarely at obtuse angle). (Table XIX).
Distribution: Ussuri (central, south). (Fig. 67). - In valley broadleaved forests, less frequently along streams and gentle mountain footslopes in light coniferous-broadleaved forests. Flowering May-June. Highly ornamental, especially during autumn coloration. Good honey plant.
General distribution: Japanese-Chinese (Northeast China, Korean Peninsula). - Described from Primorye: "Manchuria austro-orientalis, in forests, G. Maximowicz" (type - LE).
