Japan Flora: Tuber depressed-globose; pseudostem 17-25 cm. long, purple- spotted; normal leaf solitary, long-petioled, pedately 7- to 9-foliolate; leaflets oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, narrowed to­ward base, sparsely puberulent beneath, the terminal one 17-23 cm. long, 4-5 cm. wide; peduncle short; spathe dark purplish, the tube 4-4.5 cm. long, dark purple, the blade ovate- lanceolate, 7-8.5 cm. long, about 2.5 cm. wide, dark purple with 4 white longitudinal stripes, long-acuminate; spadix­appendage purplish, rounded at tip, 2-4 nun. in diameter.  May.
