Japan Flora: Leaves spreading, petiolate, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, 2.5- 6 cm. long, 1-2 cm. wide,gradually caudate-acuminate, lus­trous and green above, obtuse at base, with 3(-4)pairs of nerves, the margins crisped or flat; scapes erect or nearly so, slender, terete, 20-25 cm. long; flowers about 10,loosely ar­ranged, disposed on one side of the scape, the bracts linear, spreading, 1-1.8 cm. long, firm, the pedicels 2-5 mm. long, purplish; perianth 3-3.5 cm. long, pale purple.
