Japan Flora: Roots somewhat thickened; leaves flat, slightly folded below, 50-70 cm. long, 7-12 mm. wide, green, smooth, arcuate above, rather thin; scapes 50-60 cm. long, often with few scales; inflorescence forked, loosely about 10-flowered, the pedicels very short, the bracts ovate, 3-8 mm. long; flowers orange-yellow to orange-red, about 12 cm. long, the perianthtube slender, 2-4 cm. long, about 2/5 to 1/3 as long as the lobes, the inner segments broadly lanceolate, gradually acute to obtuse, with few cross-veins. July-Aug.
