Japan Flora: Rhizomes short-creeping, branch­ ing, ascending; leaves linear, laterally flattened, 10-40 cm. long, 4-8 mm. wide, acuminate, the margin scabrous,broadest above the middle; scapes 20-40(-60) cm. long, 1- or 2-leaved, with viscid glandular-tubercles on upper portion; racemes 2-7 cm. long, erect, usually simple, the pedicels straight, obliquely spreading, ternate, 6-12 nun. long, the bracts ovate to lanceo­late, the bracteoles 3, connate on lower half; flowers white, 5-7 mm. long, glabrous, the anthers cordate, dark purple; capsules broadly ovoid-ellipsoid, longer than the tepals; style 1.5-2 mm. long, the stigma punctiform; seeds ellipsoidal, with a filiform curved appendage. Aug.-Sept. Bogs and moist slopes in mountains.
