Japan Flora: Rhizomes short, the roots stout; leaves broadly linear, 10-30 cm. long, 1-2.5 cm. wide near the mid­dle, with 3-6 pairs of longitudinal nerves, gladiate, rather chick, falcate, acuminate, the apex usually obtuse; scapes 15-40 cm. long, flat, the margin slightly winged; panicle 7-15 cm. long, the branches relatively few, obliquely spreading; peri­anth 4-5 mm. long; stamens exserted; capsules depressed- globose, about 3.5 mm. wide; seeds about 2.2 mm. long, brown, with a tuft of white hairs on one end.  July-Aug. Rocky cliffs in mountains.

Shikoku, Kyushu; rare.
