Japan Flora: Plants herbaceous; scapes 20-25 cm. long; bracts nearly equal, oblong, rounded at apex; flowers yellow, the lip purple, yellow-spotted.

Introduced from tropical Asia; widely cultivated in our area for the pungent rhizomes.
