Russia Flora: Plant up to 1 m tall. Rootstock multi-headed or simple, arcuate. Stem simple or weakly branching, with slightly divergent lateral branches. Basal leaves 1-3, with petioles up to 25(40) cm long, blade up to 12 cm long and wide, pentagonal, dissected into 5 rhombic segments, incised to the middle into serrate-dentate lobes. Flower stalks 5-15 cm long, elongating in fruit up to 20 cm. Flowers 1-2(3), up to 3-5 cm in diameter. Sepals 5-12, 1.5-2 cm long, up to 1.5 cm wide, elliptical or rounded-rhombic, yellow-orange or yellow. Nectariferous petals 10-20 mm long, 2 mm wide, linear, rounded at apex, orange; nectary pit at about 2 mm height. Anthers 3-4 mm long, linear. Carpels 7-15, up to 10 mm long. Style up to 1.5 mm long, straight or curved. (Table I).
Distribution: Aldan, Dauria, Upper Zeya, Lower Zeya, Bureya, Amgun, Ussuri (Figure 3). - In upland and floodplain meadows, among shrubs, in forest edges and glades, in mountains - up to the subalpine zone. Flowering period: May-July. - General distribution: Eastern Siberia; Japan-China (PRC). - Described from Siberia.
