Russia Flora: Plant up to 15(20) cm tall. Root up to 2 cm in diameter. Caudex multi-headed, with numerous remnants of leaf petioles. Rosette shoots with 5-8 biternate leaves on filiform petioles up to 10 cm long, glabrous. Leaflets 0.5-1.5 cm long, 0.3-0.8 cm wide, mostly broadly elliptical, divided into linear or rhombic segments or lobes. Flowers solitary, up to 3 cm in diameter. Sepals 5, up to 1.5 cm long, 0.5-1 cm wide, elliptical, light blue or blue-violet. Nectariferous petals 4-5 times shorter than sepals, with 2 short lobes, narrowly funnel-shaped at base, light yellow. Fruit of 3-7 lanceolate carpels with straight styles. Seeds up to 2 mm long, about 1 mm wide, oblong-elliptical, narrowly winged on one side, glabrous, olive-brown, shiny.
Distribution: Okhotsk (south), Upper Zeya, Bureya (Figure 5). - On rocks, stony-gravelly screes, alpine zones, on high-mountain meadows. Flowering period: June-August. - General distribution: Western and Eastern Siberia, Central Asia; Dzungaria-Kashgaria, Mongolia, Tibet, Himalayas, Japan-China (PRC). - Described from the Himalayas.
