Russia Flora: Plant: Up to 40 cm tall, with tuber-like thickened base, from which arise leaves arranged in rosette and a leafless scape bearing inflorescence. Leaves: Leaf blade lanceolate, cuneately narrowed toward base; submerged form with linear leaves exists. Inflorescence: Panicle-like. Flowers: Petals 2-3.2 mm long and 1.7-3 mm wide, white with pink or lilac tinge. Anthers 0.4-1 mm long. Styles 0.3-0.4 mm long, hook-like curved downward in fruit. Fruit: Fruitlets 1.5-2.2 mm long; thickened marginal part of their lateral sides gradually transitions into opaque coriaceous-membranous part.Flowering in July-August.

Distribution: Ussuri (north: reported from vicinity of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, near Kartel station, Lake Khummi, 10 VII 1966, S. Schlotgauer - herbarium of Khabarovsk Pedagogical Institute). Found along water bodies, in marshy meadows.

General distribution: European part, Caucasus, Western and Eastern Siberia, Central Asia; Scandinavia, Central and Atlantic Europe, Mediterranean, Asia Minor, Iran, Dzungaria-Kashgar, Mongolia, North America, Africa (Ethiopia). Described from Belgium.

Note: The single location of this species in the Soviet Far East, in our view, is more likely natural rather than a result of introduction.
