Japan Flora: Rhizomes short, with the remains of old fronds; fronds 15-30 cm. long; stipes 2-5 cm. long, slender, slightly lustrous, brownish in lower part, with membranous, pale brown, en­tire, ovate-triangular to broadly lanceolate scales 2-3 mm. long; blades membranous-herbaceous, lanceolate, 13-25 cm. long, about 3 cm. wide, gradually acuminate, slightly con­tracted at base, deep green, thinly puberulent while very young on underside and on rachis; pinnae 14-18 pairs, oblong to ovate, 1-1.7 cm. long, 5-8 mm. wide, obtuse, auriculate and nearly truncate on upper side at base, cuneate on lower side, crenately toothed, spreading, penninerved, the lower 1 or 2 pairs smaller and subreflexed; veinlets usually simple except the one on the auricle and this pinnately branched; sori 5-10 on a pinnule, median; indusia membranous, reni- form or obovate, erose-dentate. Mountains.
