Japan Flora: Stipes 8-20(-30) cm. long; sterile blade ovate to broadly so, or oblong, 1.5-6 cm. long, 1-3 cm. wide, usually distinctly petio- late; areoles rather large, without intermediate veinlets.  Apr.-Nov.

Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu. Tropical Asia, Korea, Ryukyus, Formosa, Bonins, Hawaii, Micronesia, and tropical America.
