China Flora: Tree or shrub, up to 15 meters high: bark dark gray. Branchlets densely yellow long hairs. Leaves elliptic, oblong, ovate or broadly ovate, 2-7 cm long, pointed at the apex, rounded at the base, densely yellow silky hairs on the upper surface when young, sparsely resin glandular dots on the lower surface, white silky hairs along the veins, with irregular double fine teeth, 10-14 pairs of lateral veins; petiole 0.5-1 cm long, sparsely long hairs. Female inflorescence oblong cylindrical, 1.5-2.5 cm long, peduncle about 5 mm long, long hairs: bracts 0.8-1 cm long, hairs, middle lobe lanceolate or oblong, lateral lobes ovate, spreading, 1/2 as long as the middle lobe, and the apex is not curved outward. Nutlets obovate or oblong, 2.5-3 mm long, hairs, wings very narrow. Fruiting in August.

It is produced in northwestern Yunnan, western Sichuan, eastern and southeastern Tibet. It grows in bushes, streamside forests, and rock crevices at an altitude of 2400-4000 meters.
