Japan Flora: smaller; leaves green, flat, 1-1.5 cm. wide, reclined above; scapes 25-50 cm. long, as long as to slightly longer than the leaves; racemes simple, very short, densely few-flowered, the bracts ovate to oblong-ovate, sub­acute, membranous, the pedicels very short; flowers 5-7 cm. long, orange-yellow, the perianth-tube about 1 cm. long, the inner segments oblanceolate, obtuse, sometimes with trans­verse veinlets; anthers black.  May-June. Mountains.

Hok­kaido, Honshu (centr. and n. distr.).  e. Siberia, Manchuria, and Korea.
