Japan Flora: Closely resembles the preceding, but with coarse bristly setose hairs; lateral leaflets in the radical leaves much smaller and fewer, often obsolete, the terminal leaflets orbicular, the cauline leaves simple, 3-lobed, the stipules usually entire. Thickets and woods in mountains;

Hokkaido, Honshu (centr. and n. distr.). Sakhalin.

The typical phase occurs in Asia and N. America.
