Japan Flora: A more or less pubescent annual; stem creeping or ascending, branching; leaves ovate to broadly ovate, 3-5 cm. long, 1.5-3 cm. wide, obtuse at apex, abruptly contracted at base; spathe obtriangular, more or less ampliate above, 1-1.5 cm. long and as wide, somewhat puberulent and sparsely pilose externally; flowers rather small, 8-10 mm. across, pale blue; seeds trans­versely short-wrinkled. July-Oct.

Honshu (s. Kan to  Distr. and westvv.), Shikoku, Kyushu.  Widely distributed in tropica] regions of Asia and Africa.
