Japan Flora: Stems erect, branched, 40-80 cm. long; leaves ovate to narrowly so, 3-6 cm. long, 2-4 cm. wide, 3(-5)-parted, broadly cuneate at base, the median segment lanceolate, incised, acuminate witli an obtuse tip, the lateral segments smaller, the petioles 1-2 cm. long; upper leaves smaller and petiolate, the lateral lobes often re­duced; calyx 2.5-3 mm. long, slightly accrescent after anthesis, 3-lobed, the lobes linear-lanceolate; corolla slightly longer than the calyx; nutlets rounded at apex, 1.5 mm. long, net-veined, the areole obovate, covering lower 2/3 of the body on ventral side. Sept.-Oct
